About the Company:
The Rising Sun, is a relatively small but very busy McMullen’s Tenancy. We are a traditional old, oak beamed country pub with real log fires and a large garden located in a beautiful countryside setting on the outskirts of Stevenage.
We are a busy establishment with a restaurant and bar area which caters for 65 covers, and a further 70 covers in the garden during the summer months. Our menu offer consists of simple, home-cooked pub food with a slightly more complex specials menu from Wednesday to Saturday. We are generally always fully booked on a Sunday and have made a name for ourselves for our superb roast dinners. Weekends are our busiest time and we are steady throughout the week.
Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will need to show a passion for simple, well executed food with fresh ingredients and have the relevant experience of managing a busy kitchen. They will need to possess good communication skills with the ability to motivate the team to produce consistently great food as well as the ability to manage ordering, budgets, health and safety, cleaning and food hygiene.
About the Role:
The position of Head Chef will be committed to assisting the tenants to drive the business forward through consistent quality and on-going menu development. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in managing the duties of our kitchen porters/pot wash colleagues, together with ensuring that provisions and ingredients are ordered and available and adhering to costings, margins and labour costs within the kitchen.

Salary: £28,000 p.a. (dependant on experience)
